CARE INSTRUCTIONS
What is gold-plated jewellery:
Gold-plated jewellery has a layer of gold bonded to a base metal. (Our base metal is Sterling Silver 925). The thicker the gold layer, the longer the finish will last. Proper care will help maintain the beautiful shine for a longer period.
Does gold jewellery tarnish?
Gold-plated jewellery can tarnish over time if not properly cared for. Exposure to chemicals like perfumes, lotions, hand sanitizer, and deodorants can speed up the process. To prevent tarnishing, clean your pieces regularly. Avoid exercising, swimming, showering, or cleaning with gold-plated jewellery on, as sweat, chlorine, saltwater, and fresh water can damage the precious metals.
How to clean your gold-plated jewellery:
- Gently rub your jewellery with a soft microfibre cloth to polish it.
- For a deeper clean, use a small amount of mild dish soap and warm water with a soft-bristle toothbrush.
- Rinse with lukewarm water and pat dry with a clean cloth.
Regular polishing is suggested every few weeks or months, depending on wear. For pieces you wear less frequently, polishing a few times a year will suffice.
Storing your gold jewellery:
To preserve your gorgeous pieces, store them in a cool, dry, dark place away from direct sunlight and humidity. It's best to keep your jewellery in a soft pouch or jewellery box to protect it from scratches. If you live in a humid environment, transfer your jewellery to a well-ventilated box to reduce tarnishing.
