CARE GUIDE
What is gold-plated jewellery?
Gold-plated jewellery has a layer of gold bonded to a base of sterling silver 925. The thickness of the gold layer affects how long the finish will last. With thoughtful care, your pieces will maintain their shine beautifully over time.
Preserving longevity
Gold-plated jewellery can naturally show signs of wear over time, especially with frequent exposure to chemicals such as perfumes, lotions, hand sanitiser, and deodorants.
To help preserve the finish, we recommend removing your jewellery before exercising, swimming, showering, or cleaning, as sweat, chlorine, saltwater, and water can affect the precious metals.
How to care for your gold-plated pieces
- Gently polish your jewellery with a soft microfibre cloth to restore its shine.
- For a deeper clean, use a small amount of mild dish soap with warm water and a soft-bristle brush.
- Rinse with lukewarm water and gently pat dry with a clean cloth.
Regular light polishing every few weeks will help maintain its natural shine. For pieces worn less often, occasional care is sufficient.
Storing your jewellery
Store your jewellery in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight and humidity. We recommend keeping each piece in a soft pouch or jewellery box to protect it from scratches. In humid environments, a well-ventilated storage box is ideal to help preserve the finish.
